This tiny part of the Northern Territory is 107kms south of Darwin, 105kms from the Darwin International Airport.
We have limited services in our main township, a small general store in the town center is where you can grab some basics and support a local business. We suggested heading to a major supermarket prior to travelling down if you have foods you prefer. There are 3 fuel stations within the township.
If you don’t feel like cooking during your stay, we can recommend a handful of great local places to go for dinner during the peak season months.
Coming soon ~ Book the Cook options right here at the ridge.
If you want to immerse yourself in the waterfalls & swimming holes of Litchfield National Park, you’ll find its entrance is only 8kms from our front gate, and under 30min drive to Buley Rockhole’s & Florence Falls.
If you would like to know more, we can provide you with helpful information on what to see & do. Remember to purchase a National Parks pass through the NT Government website prior to entering the park.

Please be assured once you pass the main house you will not be disturbed. Even though we share the same 22 acres, we are hands off hosts but here to help if you need us.
If you love nature, bird watching, photography or taking a walk, we have some short tracks throughout the property you are welcome to use. Please be aware that these are a shared space with us. Signage along these tracks will tell you if you are entering an area where you may come across our dogs or are close to our neighbours.
We have 3 furry friendly dogs that live on the property. They are contained within the radius of the main house & will not be able to enter your space. If you need to visit us or would even like to meet them, please get in contact first.

Providing your privacy & safety is very important to us. We do not allow access to visitors during your stay.
If your friends or family want to come & join you unfortunately the ridge retreat is for our booked guests only.
Please ask us about Gift Voucher options for them to enjoy The Ridge Retreat at another time.
If you are a long stay guest of 4 or more nights, please contact us prior to the approval of day visitors.

Although all care has been taken to provide easy access for all, those with mobility issues need to be aware there are a couple of steps to negotiate at the entry point.
Due to the path surfaces and location of the retreat we are not wheelchair accessible.

If you are staying during the dry season bush fires and back burning can occur which we will not know about in advance. Be assured we check the NT Fire Incident map regularly & have firefighting equipment onsite. Many of our neighbors are volunteer firefighters & our local fire brigade is always close at hand should we require assistance.
In the wet season the lightening & rainstorms are truly breathtaking. They can also cause blackouts & sometimes flooding on the roads.
If you wish to experience ‘The Wet’ please contact us directly to discuss what it’s like prior to booking (mid-October to March).
Birdwatching is vibrant all year round, although the Wet Season can be a highlight bringing in a great number of species into wetlands. If you are a keen bird watcher (like Alice your host) we can provide you with helpful target areas.

Please be aware we are in rural Northern Territory. Telstra phone service is available most of the time but can also drop out without warning. In some locations there will be no phone service at all. While at the retreat you will have unlimited Starlink Wi-Fi access. Putting your phone onto Wi-Fi Calling will allow you to make & receive calls, if you want to ~ you may want to choose to disconnect.
The Northern Territory is known for its wild animals! Snakes, spiders, buffalo, feral pigs, lizards, crocodiles & of course bugs, mozzies & flies. These are all creatures that live here.
To help with the bugs we provide you with a choice of repellents but please be aware you are in the bush & these are a part of visiting the NT.
Rum Jungle is a small rural community & farming area, and we are in a valley where noise can travel. Noise such as tractors, helicopters, dogs, cows & music can be heard at times.
When inside the retreat the double-glazed windows & doors keep things nice and quiet.
